The Independent Thinkers Collective is a group of Duke graduate students who find problems and fix them.
We make new goals as we discover new challenges worth addressing.
From September 2016 to present, our goal has been to prevent the formation of a graduate student union at Duke University. Why? Check out our Resources to learn more.
Our next projects starting in March 2017 will be to (a) increase the number of recycling bins available in Duke Hospital, and (b) start a website to educate people on the prevalence of harmful gender biases in Hollywood films and popular literature.

About the logo: The spotted eagle ray Aetobatus narinari is a cartilaginous fish found in tropical waters. It is most commonly found alone, but occasionally forms larger groups. One of its traveling forms is the loose aggregation, in which up to sixteen rays form a coalition, periodically interacting with one another. Schools can also form, in which several rays swim together in the same direction with the same speed. The spotted eagle ray has venomous stingers and will hunt for prey in the water, as well as in ocean floor sand, exhibiting a digging investigative behavior unique among the ray family. They are most active during high tide and can travel impressively long distances in a single day.
